The Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is rightly considered one of Africa's most incredible wilderness sanctuaries. With an area of 16,000 square kilometres filled with water channels, lagoons, and islands, this remarkable area is a wetland paradise located deep within the arid Kalahari Desert. Each year, floodwaters flow from their catchment areas in the Central African highlands of Angola over 1,000 km (620 miles) away into the Delta to create the Okavango miracle. This unique area sustains a huge diversity of fauna and flora, so game viewing is excellent year-round.
