Gocta Cataracts are located in the Amazonas region of northern Peru, in the province of Bongará near the town of Chachapoyas. Visitors can hike or ride on horseback along forest trails to reach the waterfall, explore viewing points, and observe the surrounding cloud forest and wildlife. The falls are notable for their two‑tiered structure and a total height of about 771 metres, making them among the tallest waterfalls in the world, and for having been largely unknown outside the local area until the early 2000s despite long-standing local knowledge.
