What could be more relaxing than the water! And if we add to this a great diversity of flora and fauna? That is why the kayak tour is one of the experiences that will remain in the memory of our guests. We will take a local truck that will take us to the Tres Amigos River, where the adventure begins; monkeys, iguanas, turtles and a variety of birds will be part of the company on this journey. Suddenly the impressive San Carlos River will open to our eyes and will be in charge of taking us to the lodge.
Beautiful horseback riding through the trails of our reserve Hacienda Boca Tapada. A unique experience where you can enjoy the native nature of the region, observation of dierent species of birds, insects, trees and if luck is in your favor, the tapir. Halfway through the tour you will be able to refresh yourself in a natural lodge and enjoy the sounds of the jungle.
To literally immerse yourself in the immensity of a forest, where silence, sounds and expectation are mixed, is an experience that you should not miss. Walk the trails of our reserve during the day or at night and enjoy the wonders that nature gives us.
We will take a boat that will take us along the majestic San Carlos River towards the border with Nicaragua. During the tour you will be able to observe birds, turtles, monkeys, iguanas and the impressive crocodiles that inhabit it. We will arrive at a small community called Boca San Carlos, its name refers to the mouth of the San Carlos River, Costa Rica in the San Juan River, Nicaragua; there we will make a small tour and if you wish you can enjoy a natural soft drink oered by local people.
For those who do not wish to paddle, the boat option is an excellent alternative to explore the San Carlos River and dive into a small jungle in the waters of the Tres Amigos River, where birds, iguanas, monkeys, majestic macaws and crocodiles will be the main characters of this experience.
Would you like to photograph or simply admire the beauty of the majestic king vulture? You will take your vehicle 1.5 km from our lodge where you can appreciate the beauty of the king vulture at a fixed point while feeding complementary to this, you will observe dierent species of birds in their feeding areas and natural habitats.
Did you know that Costa Rica has more than 900 species of birds?
Boca Tapada is home to many of them. We will start early in the morning with our guide walking through the trails of our Hacienda Boca Tapada reserve, where you will observe a diversity of bird species in their natural habitat to photograph or just keep the memory in your mind and admire. Depending on the season the tour takes place inside the hotel facilities and in the surroundings, ending just intime to enjoy the breakfast that the hotel has prepared for you.
The tour will start at the 350 year old avatar (ceiba tree) 45 minutes from the Boca Tapada Lodge hotel where your guide will be waiting for you, in the same place, we will tour the beekeeping project on the property of a local. We will continue the tour to Boca San Carlos to the organic farm Los Almendros, where we can appreciate more than 30 fruit trees and a variety of medicinal plants and edible roots, right there, we will collect some of the products for lunch and a hot or cold drink. You will be able to feed the farm animals: pigs, chickens, quails and ducks. At this place we will leave the vehicle and start the tour walking through the community, passing by the viewpoint of the Astros, where you can see a panoramic view and a natural reserve of Nicaragua across the river.
During the tour you will appreciate how the locals of Boca San Carlos live on a daily basis. After approximately 2 km of walking, we will arrive at Capitan Morgan where we will welcome you with a delicious piña colada (without alcohol) and a lit bonfire where if you like, you can participate in the lunch preparation.
The tour starts with a brief welcome and an educational talk about organic-biodynamic
production, viola making, composting and handling of biodynamic preparations.
Then we will go to the orchard, where we will see a representation of the main crops that Costa Rica oers, such as pineapple, yucca, banana, sugar cane, ñampí and corn. Then we will walk through the small trail where you can observe a great variety of birds, butterflies, squirrels, iguanas and other animals in their natural habitat, you can also learn about the famous "Grandfather's Story" that has a very special meaning for the host family.
During the tour, you will be able to observe the farm, with an exhibition of exotic chickens, sheep, cows, pigs, peacocks, fish, dogs and rabbits. And finally, we will have a small snack at the family ranch and enjoy a nice time for conversation.
