The Cattedrale di Palermo is the main cathedral of the city of Palermo, Sicily, and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palermo. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and has a rich history of additions, alterations and restorations that reflect different architectural styles, from Norman to Neoclassical. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale. Travellers can admire the Gothic-Catalan portico, the towers and the dome, as well as the interior decorations and artworks, such as the sarcophagus of the Norman king Frederick II and the silver reliquary of Saint Rosalia, the patron saint of Palermo. The cathedral also offers a panoramic view of the city from the rooftop terraces.
