Tigua is a tiny village between Quilotoa and Latacunga famous for its typical artwork. You can find painted masks and drums and also small oil paintings on sheepskin that represent indigenous traditions, life in the Andes as well a local myths and festivities. On these paintings you will find colorful expressions of Cotopaxi, the Quilotoa Lake and Ilinizas with lama´s roaming the hillsides with shepherds in tow, women spinning wool and condors flying high above. The best paintings include a little of everything so that each time you look, you see a new detail.

In Tigua there are several workshop. The one of the Toaquiza family is the most famous of all with high quality paintings.
