Lake Minnewanka, meaning 'Water of the Spirits' in Nakoda, is a glacial lake in the eastern corner of Banff National Park and about 5 kilometres from the town of Banff. Cascade River feeds into Lake Minnewanka from its western end, with several streams also flowing into the lake from Mount Inglismaldie, Mount Girouard and Mount Peechee on the south side.

Lake Minnewanka is a sight to behold set against a striking mountain backdrop. It is 21 kilometres long and 142 metres deep - making it the longest lake in the Canadian Rockies' parks. The lake is ideal for picnicking, mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, diving, snowshoeing, camping and hunting. Visitors can relax at picnic tables on the shore, complete with a cooking shelter and a small café.

It is the only lake in Banff National Park allowing limited use of power boats, with daily boat cruises to Devil’s Gap.
