Mabamba Swamp, found in the South of Uganda and West of Entebbe, provides excellent birding opportunities, with the rare and unusual Shoebill being amongst a long list of over 200 birds to be found here. Take a trip in a canoe and drift through the papyrus reeds before entering the large open wetlands to start your birding discoveries.

This wetland is relatively close to Entebbe airport (approx.1-1.5 hour's drive), enabling visitors to explore in the morning and have enough time to be at the airport to depart on an afternoon flight out. However, if time allows we can recommend taking a boat trip across Lake Victoria as an great alternative to driving to get here.
