One of the highlights of Purnululu National Park is Echidna Chasm. The soft walls of this spectacular, long, narrow chasm were once part of a river bed, and, depending on the time of day, striking colour variations are displayed as the sun shines through the palms on the ridges 200 m above making this a favourite spot for photographers. There is a car park with picnic areas and toilets at Echidna Chasm and a 2 km long walking trail leads through the chasm.
