Semonkong Lodge and the surrounding area offer a unique and adventurous landscape to explore on foot. Singletrack trails or routes cut only by shepherds and their livestock boast a network hiking option. For the passionate explorer, Semonkong organizes popular guided overnight treks to remote villages in the area with the use of Basotho pack horses to carry those heavy packs. The highlight of the area are the Maletsunyane Waterfalls, one of the highest single dropping waterfalls in the Southern Hemisphere, which plummets 192 metres into a spectacular gorge creating clouds of spray visible from afar. The falls can be visited as part of a day hike or pony trek. Semonkong operates the longest commercially operated single-drop abseil in the world. With your adrenaline levels soaring, you will witness the absolute natural beauty of this gorge in all its splendor, whilst descending through the spray from the waterfall alongside you.
