Kaudulla National Park is another wildlife reserve located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is situated close to Minneriya National Park and shares a similar ecosystem, with its main attraction being the large herds of wild elephants that inhabit the park. Kaudulla National Park covers an area of 6,900 hectares and is also home to other wildlife, including sambar deer, spotted deer, water buffalo, and a variety of bird species.

Similar to Minneriya National Park, Kaudulla also has an ancient reservoir, the Kaudulla Tank, which attracts wildlife during the dry season. The best time to visit Kaudulla National Park is between July and November when the water levels in the tank are low, and the elephants gather around it to drink and bathe. Visitors can take guided jeep safaris to explore the park and observe the wildlife.

While Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks are similar in terms of their ecosystem and wildlife, each park has its own unique features and attractions. Therefore, visiting both parks can provide a more comprehensive experience of Sri Lanka's natural beauty and wildlife.
