Situated on the site of the last bloody battle of Jacobite Rising, the Culloden Battlefield offers an interactive exhibition that takes visitors through the history of the hand-to-hand battle and the people involved in it. The centre features an exhibition where genuine characters who were involved in the battle give their accounts of the event, a 4-minute battle immersion film that relives the horror of the event, and a rooftop viewing from where one can appreciate the scale of the battle. Visitors can follow the restored footpaths of the battlefield and experience how it appeared on that fateful day. The animated battle table reveals the sequence of events as the battle is re-enacted using the latest graphics technology. Facilities at the site include a shop and a restaurant. The centre is open daily throughout the year, and opening times vary according to the season.
