Koh Kong is located in southwest Cambodia, boasting a long coastline and bordering Thailand on its northwesternmost tip. The border crossing - from Hat Lek in Thailand to Sihanoukville in Koh Kong - has led to strong growth in tourism in the province, as visitors have discovered its beautiful beaches and pristine nature reserves. The capital is Khemarak Phoumin, a bustling border town with transport links to the province’s key destinations. These include Lam Da Beach and Koh Sdach - serene, palm-fringed beaches with golden sands - and Koh Moul, the country’s largest island, a scenic retreat offering activities centred around its six beaches and 12 waterfalls. Further inland, the Cardamom Mountains are extremely popular, with Chi Phat (a rainforest reserve) and Botum Sakor National Park particularly recommended.
