Mangal das Garças Park is an extensive and lush landscaped park that spans over 40,000 square metres on the banks of the Guamá River, on the fringes of the historic centre of Belém. It was established in 2005 with the idea of representing the different floristic macro-regions of Pará: the terra firme forests, the floodplain forests and the fields, with their fauna. With lakes, birds, typical vegetation, leisure facilities, restaurant, spectacular views of the city and the river, Mangal das Garças soon became one of the most praised tourist spots in Belém. Highlights include the 100-metre long walkway over the floodplain and the 47 meter high metallic structure tower with two observation levels.
