Hallgrímskirkja is a Lutheran parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the largest church in Iceland and one of the tallest structures in the country. The church’s distinctively curved spire and side wings make it a prominent symbol of Iceland’s national identity since its completion in 1986. Named after the Icelandic poet and cleric Hallgrímur Pétursson, author of the Passion Hymns, Hallgrímskirkja offers panoramic views of Reykjavík, the surrounding mountains, and the ocean stretching west to Greenland and the Americas from its tower. Visitors can also explore the largest organ in the country.
