Dubbed the ‘Dolphin Coast’, the KwaZulu Natal North Coast is known for its abundant population of bottlenose dolphins that surf in the balmy waters of the Indian Ocean. The coast is one of the province’s main attractions, with its rich cultural heritage, excellent fishing opportunities, and spectacular golden beaches fringed by fields of sugarcane. Stretching north from the metropolis of Durban, is passes well-developed beach resorts and golf courses as well as more remote areas - long stretches of unspoilt beaches, wetlands and lake systems. Visitors can enjoy the sunshine-filled days of swimming in tidal pools, surfing incredible waves, lazing on beaches all day; or taking a guided walk through the Harold Johnson Nature Reserve.
