The Walker Bay coastline is famous for having some of the best land-based whale-watching in the world. Every year between July and November, Southern Right Whales visit the bay to mate and calf. These beautiful mammals have been known to come as close as ten metres from shore but if you’re not fortunate enough to witness this spectacular moment, don’t fear. Hermanus’s whale crier, the only one of his kind in the world, patrols the streets and will blow his kelp horn to alert you of the whales’ whereabouts.
