The Nata Bird Sanctuary borders the Sowa Pan, one of three major pans in the Makgadikgadi region. In the rainy season, this pan receives inflow from the Nata River, providing breeding grounds for over 250,000 pelicans and flamingos. In total, the Nata Bird Sanctuary has 165 different species of birds and many other African wild animals that can be discovered on game drives. Including many antelopes such as kudu, oryx, springbok, stag, eland, impala, but also hyenas, zebras, baboons, jackals and many more. The protected area is easily accessible with a 4x4 all year round.
