Situated close to Ranu Raraku, Ahu Tongariki is an exceptional archaeological site where 15 moai are lined up on a single ahu, the longest of the statue bearing stone platforms on the island. The surrounding scenery is dramatic, with waves pounding against sheer ocean cliffs. The tsunami of 1960 washed all 15 of the statues inland, where they lay until the site was restored in 1995.
