Allesverloren – meaning ‘all is lost’ – was named after it was devastated by a terrible fire in 1704, but the Swartland farm bounced back within a century and has been producing fabulous vintages ever since. The estate produces no white wines, but is particularly well known for its range of spicy, full-bodied Shiraz vintages and its rich, sweet port. Allesverloren has a modern function venue available for conferences, weddings and other events. The tasting room is open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm and Saturdays 8.30am to 2pm. Closed Sundays and certain public holidays – call to confirm.
