Ishasha sector is famous because of the unique tree climbing lions. The Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park is dominated by candelabra trees with big branches that allow lions to hang up there. There are also the savannah word land trees like the acacia tress. Ishasha sector is the only part in east Africa where you can find the tree climbing lions with ease. The tree climbing lions are also located in Lake Manyara with in Tanzania; however, these lions here are hard to track since they are few in number.
Ishasha sector is located in the south western rim of Queen Elizabeth national park in western Uganda. Ishasha has a magnificent land scape dominated by savannah woodland tree species like the huge fig trees, cactus trees, acacia trees among the rest.
The lions in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park are an exceptional attraction and they make the highlight for the safari taken within Queen Elizabeth national park. The presence of the Kobs in Ishasha attracts lions and other big cats like the leopards to the area. The presence of the Kobs is partly the reason why these climb the big fig trees in Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park.
In addition to the interesting and amazing tree climbing lions, Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth has numerous antelopes, many large herds of cattle. You will have a chance of seeing a huge herd of elephants crossing the roads; these are the so called African elephants because they have their ears shaped as a map of African, running away from the sun during the morning with their tummies full of food from the night’s meal.
