False Bay, within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site, is the widest section of Lake St Lucia, bordered by the Nibela and Nhlozi peninsulas. The area features diverse habitats, including sand forest, woodland, thornveld, and savannah, making it a prime spot for birdwatching and small game viewing. Visitors can explore the park on foot or horseback, encountering antelope, primates, birds, and butterflies. The lake is home to Nile crocodiles and hippos, making swimming unsafe, though boating and fishing are allowed. Two self-guided trails, Dukandlovu and Mphophomeni, offer an 8km route through forest and along the shoreline.
