Located in Jasper Canada, Sunwapta Falls collects its water from the Athabasca Glacier. Sunwapta Falls has a drop of 18.5 metres, and has a powerful gush of water from the Sunwapta River. Sunwapta translates to turbulent water, which derives from the first nation of people in the area. The waterfall has a magnificent mountain backdrop, making it a very scenic experience. A footbridge is located above the gorge which provides visitors with a front row seat to the beautiful area. Further down the river, another waterfall known as the Lower Sunwapta Falls provides visitors with a completely different experience. Visiting both sets of waterfalls is a very popular activity.
