Savanna Private Game Reserve lies in the world famous Sabi Sands private game reserve. This five star lodge prides itself on its intimate atmosphere, friendly personalized service and excellent guiding. Paddy and his rangers have a deep love of the bush which has developed over many years.
The Savanna Tented Lodge is warm and welcoming with a communal table for dining, a relaxing sitting area, a small library, with its bird’s eye views over the waterhole and internet access, and a lantern lit boma for evening dining.
The spacious accommodation is understated, elegant and well-designed nestled amongst indigenous trees that provide a haven for birds and overlooking a waterhole. The décor is a blend of colonial and classic with hand crafted furniture, fine linen and beautiful artwork. The luxury suites have tented roofs (and solid sides) giving you the romance of sleeping under canvas but with the practicality of efficient air-conditioning and well-equipped and spacious bathrooms. The executive suites are even larger with positively decadent bathrooms and the added pleasure of private plunge pools.
The thatched Savanna Suite is tailor-made for families or friends, with two identical en suite bedrooms, each with their own plunge pool, large sitting room and covered patio. It is taken on an exclusive use basis with its own ranger and private vehicle. Two of the adjacent executive suites can be added for larger parties.
Specially designed game viewing vehicles and highly trained guides with vast knowledge of the African bushveld take you on close and intimate encounters with a large variety of wildlife. Optional game walks are also on offer. Numerous nearby dams and waterholes in front of the lodge attract much wildlife, especially in the dry winter months when elephants are daily visitors. Savanna Private Game Reserve also offers the unique opportunity to learn about the history of the reserve. Relaxation between game drives is important and what better way to unwind than with an invigorating massage. Savanna’s own qualified therapist offers a range of treatments in the privacy of your suite.
Savanna Private Game Reserve lies in an area where ‘Big 5’ sightings are so frequent, it is not unusual to see lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino in a single game drive. Famous for having the best leopard viewing in the world, the Sabi Sand area is known worldwide as ‘The Land of the Leopards” and has a greater feeling of the open spaces of the bush when you are on a game drive.
The Savanna Suite is an opulent home away from home under thatch.Two large, beautifully furnished bedrooms lie on either side of an inter-connecting lounge. Each has a spacious bathroom with free-standing bath, double vanities, double shower and toilet. The bathrooms open onto paved outdoor showers. The bedrooms have glass doors with screens leading out onto covered patios, heated plunge pool and wooden viewing deck. From here guests enjoy views of a private waterhole and the beauty of the African bush.
The lounge is a harmonious meld of elegance and comfort with sofas grouped around a television and DVD centre, and a cosy reading nook in front of the fireplace. Step through sliding glass doors onto a large covered patio where candle-lit dinners or private pre-dinner cocktails may be enjoyed. An attached fully equipped kitchen and guest restroom complete the impression of being in one's own exquisite home.
The Savanna Suite's unique facilities are much in demand by families who would like to have their children under the same roof but not in the same bedroom, or groups of friends wishing to spend quality time together. A butler in attendance at dinner and a private game viewing vehicle with dedicated ranger and tracker to take care of all their needs completes the Savanna Suite package.
Childminding can be arranged for children younger than 2 years old, allowing parents the leisure time to partake in game drives.
The three large Executive Suites have canvas roofs for an authentic safari ambience and the romance of sleeping in Bedouin-style tents. Canvas roofs are set above solid walls for comfort, privacy and security as well as efficient air-conditioning and fans.
Each Executive Suite has a spacious bathroom with free-standing bath, double vanities, double shower and toilet as well as outdoor shower atrium. The bedrooms have plush sitting areas leading out onto covered patios with private heated plunge pool and wooden viewing decks overlooking surrounding waterholes and the magnificent African bush.
Quite and secluded, they offer a sanctuary of peaceful relaxation after the rush of an exciting game drive.
Four Luxury Suites under canvas nestle amid beautiful indigeneous trees that attract a variety of birds. They have the same facilities as the larger suites in a more compact space and are furnished and decorated to the same superb standard. The bedrooms have draped ceilings creating an atmosphere of romance and intimacy. Tented roofs blend into the African bush while solid walls provide quiet and security, ensuring a restful night's sleep.
Each Luxury Suite has an en-suite bathroom with free-standing bath, double vanities and both indoor and outdoor shower. The bedrooms open onto private patios with deck and private heated plunge pools. Sweeping views of the bush and waterholes can be enjoyed from the comfort of your deck chair. Tucked away with large stands of natural shrubbery separating them, the luxury suites are the ultimate in cosy, private hideaways.

Guests will enjoy two game drives per day. Our vehicles are specially adapted for comfort and to seat 6 guests, ensuring a personal safari. Seats on the vehicles can be individually heated and there are USB and USB-C charging points on each row, ensuring guests are able to keep their devices charged.
Bush walks are available in the morning with your ranger and will be tailor made around guests needs.
Savanna has an air-conditioned gym we welcome guests to use during their stay.
Savanna is very involved with its local communities, and we offer guests the chance to learn more about the projects we are running which include vegetable gardens and assisting the orphanage, as well as supporting an Elderly care home.
A Village tour is also available to give guests an insight to the local people and their day to day lives.
