Murchison Falls is a waterfall located in northwestern Uganda along the Victoria Nile, within Murchison Falls National Park. Visitors can hike to viewpoints at the top of the falls or take a boat trip to observe the cascading water from below. The river is forced through a narrow gorge about seven metres wide before dropping roughly 40 metres, creating a powerful flow, and the falls are also known as Kabalega Falls in recognition of the Bunyoro king, while their present name was given by explorer Samuel Baker.
