A 20 minute drive from Cape Town, lies the harbour town of Hout Bay. Hout refers to 'wood', as the area was known for its large Yellowwood forests, which were harvested for construction purposes in the early colonial days of Cape Town. Now a bustling fishing harbour, the area is also popular for tourists, which can take a boat across to Duiker Island for some seal viewing. Expect a colourful crowd of entertainers and a curio market - this tourism hub really has a lot of character!
