The Teatro Olimpico is a theatre in Vicenza, Italy, located in Piazza Matteotti, near the Basilica Palladiana. It was the last work of the famous Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio, who died before it was completed. The theatre is unique for its magnificent stage set, which creates the illusion of long streets receding into the distance. It is the oldest surviving stage set in the world, and Vincenzo Scamozzi, Palladio’s pupil, designed it. Travellers who visit the Teatro Olimpico can admire the splendid architecture and the intricate details of the stage and enjoy the performances held there several times a year.
