Baines’ River Camp is situated in the Eastern Chiawa Game Management Area adjacent to Lower Zambezi National Park and overlooks the Zambezi River.
The open-plan design of the main area is based on the colonial style of a bygone era, offering guests magnificent views of the Zambezi River from The Selous Bar, the lounge and dining areas and from the 11 meter swimming pool. The outdoor boma-style fire place is lit every evening and on cold winter evenings the fireplaces in the bar and in the dining room offer extra comfort. The library collection is housed in The Boardroom and the spa offers treatments daily.
Baines’ River Camp offers a choice of 8 Explorer suites with either king or twin beds. Each of these individual colonial style safari suites, named after different African Explorers, commands its own view of the Zambezi River from a comfortably furnished veranda. The suites are decorated with rich, classical fabrics, colourful kilims, natural hardwood timbers, and finished with air-conditioning. The en-suite bathrooms include a walk-in shower and spacious dressing area, whilst two of the suites feature an additional outdoor shower.
Baines’ River Camp offers a wide range of activities including canoeing safaris on the Zambezi River; fishing with expert local guides from the area for the sporting tiger fish, bream and vundu; game drives in the Game Management area as well as into the Lower Zambezi National Park, sunset game cruises and bird watching.
The camp is open from March to 16 December annually

Explorer Suites
Each elegantly furnished Explorer Suite offers:
A spacious bedroom with King size (XL) bed, which can be converted to twins, a writing desk, a leather occasional chair with footstool
A bath & dressing room with double basins, large walk-in shower, separate toilet
A river-facing veranda with a 2 metre sofa, occasional chair, coffee table
Two of these Suites offer additional outside showers and are usually allocated to honeymooners or guests celebrating a special event.
General amenities include air-conditioning (operational during generator hours), ceiling fan, coffee and tea making facilities, hairdryer, personal safe, luxury bathroom amenities, personal insect repellent, torch, whistle to attract the attention of a watchman in case of an emergency.
