Shumba Camp is a premier Wilderness camp and has accordingly been awarded a level 6 Meerkat Rating. The Camp is situated in the central Busanga Plains area of Kafue National Park.
Shumba Camp offers accommodation in six elegant safari tents on raised wooden decks, each with remarkable views of the surrounding plains. The tents are spacious and feature a bedroom with a view, lounge, en-suite bathrooms with both an indoor and outdoor shower as well as a comfortable private viewing deck at the front of the tents.
The dining and bar area is elevated so as to take in the vista across the plains including the morning sunrise. Meals can be enjoyed in the dining area or out under the stars in the boma area where meals are prepared in front of guests over the open fire. There is a swimming pool for guest enjoyment as well as a variety of private seating and relaxation areas around the camp.
Guests can take part in game drives and walking safaris in and around the plains, while night drives offer the added excitement of the nocturnal wonders of the area. The Busanga Plains are home to hundreds of red lechwe, ubiquitous puku, stately roan and the diminutive oribi. Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, herds of wildebeest, zebra and buffalo make for a full set of antelope. This wealth of game on the plains is also a big attraction for predators, including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion.
Shumba Camp is open from May to November only.

Each large and well-appointed en-suite tent features an inviting separate seating area, and an outdoor shower, open to the sky, all offering spectacular views of the surrounding plains.
There is one spacious family room which sleeps four comfortably. Consisting of one large room separated by a screen to make a main and a second bedroom, each has two three-quarter beds. The shared en-suite facilities include indoor and outdoor showers, and a double basin vanity, as well as separate toilet.
