Adjacent to Zarafa Camp, with elevated, sweeping views over the pristine Zibadianja Lagoon in the vast expanse of the 320,000-acre Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana, the bespoke Zarafa Dhow Suites are comprised of two en-suite bedrooms adjoined by a stylish lounge and dining area. The multi-level deck, complete with a pool, add to the generous expanse of living space.
Being an exclusive-use “villa in the bush”, the Suites provide complete seclusion with the dedicated services of a private guide, game drive vehicle and chef. The Suites are therefore ideal for small groups or families (Zarafa Dhow Suites welcome children over six years). A maximum of four adults and one child can be accommodated in the Suites.
With a distinctive East African feel, the Suites are named after the iconic, traditional sailing vessel still widely used across East and North-Eastern Africa today. Ancient Zanzibari doors open into gorgeous hardwood floored, rich interiors, reflecting the warmth and charm of a bygone safari era. Fabrics and rugs incorporate hints of deep reds complementing classic whites and creams. The beautifully appointed bedrooms have their own fireplaces and each en-suite bathroom features a gleaming, large copper bath.
The Zibadianja Lagoon, which feeds the renown Savute Channel, entices an abundance of wildlife to visit its shores. During the dry season, sightings of huge numbers of buffalo and elephant abound and an incredible array of wildlife frequents the area year-round. Bird life is nothing short of spectacular and the Lagoon surrounds boast giant trees; across the savannah palms flourish.
As is the case with Zarafa Camp, Zarafa Dhow Suites take great pride in being amongst the “greenest” of opulent camps and lodges in Africa. Boasting recycled materials used in its construction, the Suites’ electricity is supplied by a solar farm. Waste is recycled by “bio gas” plants into gas suitable for cooking.
Activities offered at Zarafa Dhow Suites include game drives, night drives, and walks. Tranquil Dhow trips on the Zibadianja Lagoon may be enjoyed, subject to water levels permitting.
Activities are focused on game drives. During periods of high water levels, water activities may be possible but not guaranteed.
