Xobega Island is located on a private island in the Okavango Delta, set just off the mainland of the Moremi Game Reserve.
Accommodation consists of ten meru tents with open- air bathrooms and a small veranda. Each tent has two stretcher beds and en suite facilities, complete with washing basins, a bucket shower and a chemical eco – toilet.
The main dining tent and traditional boma area are situated centrally. There are two lounge areas in camp, where guests can relax during the heat of the day.
Activities include morning and afternoon boat cruises, and mokoro safaris. All activities are weather and water level dependent. Guests will have plenty of photography opportunities and Xobega is a birders paradise.
Transfer time: 1 hour 30 minutes from Xakanaxa Boat Station

Each tent has a spacious interior, fly screen and canvas sides, and a zip-doorway leading to the outdoor en suite bathroom. Canvas overhangs extend outward at the front entrance of each tent creating a shaded ‘verandah’ and place to sit and bird-watch.
Inside each tent are twin beds, complete with bedding and linen. Floor rugs and scatter cushions add some vibrant colour and sense of luxury to these authentic safari tents. There is sufficient space in a tent for a third stretcher, however no children under 12 can be accommodated on the island.
A single solar-powered light can be switched on and off at the wall, while lanterns can be used as bedside lights. Bucket showers are filled with hot water, daily, as are the standing washbasins. Chemical toilets are placed in each bathroom, in keeping with the eco-friendly operation of the camp.
Directions to Xobega Island Camp
...
- Exit Maun Airport on Airport Rd and arrive at stop street intercepting Sir Seretse Khama Rd
- Turn left onto Sir Seretse Khama Rd
- Continue on Sir Seretse Khama Rd out of Maun Town and follow the road as it veers right and crosses the Thamalakane River
- Approach roundabout and take the first exit (left)
- Continue on road (changes from tar to gravel)
- Cross the vet fence border and continue straight until a fork in the road
- Keep left at the fork in the direction of Moremi Game Reserve South Gate (aka Maqwee Gate)
- Enter Moremi at South Gate and keep left (north west) in the direction of 3rd Bridge
- Continue via 1st Bridge and 2nd Bridge and before arriving at 3rd Bridge, follow a sign to Mboma boat station (continuing north westerly)
- Follow further signs for Mboma until arriving at the boat station
- Here, you will be picked up and take a 45-min cruise to Xobega Island Camp
