In June 2015 Mukambi Safaris will open a new seasonal bush camp in the Kafue National Park. The Camp’s location is 20 km west of Mukambi Safari Lodge.
Fig Tree Bush Camp is situated next to a small ‘beach’ created by the dried sand banks of the Shishamba River. The Shishamba River seasonally dries up from May to December, leaving spectacular lagoons within a rich habitat of open plains and lush riverine forest.
Accommodation comprises of four safari tents raised on 3m high platforms. All the tents overlook the lagoon but also have a view of the plains behind the camp offering unique opportunities to spot game. Each safari tent has an en-suite bathroom and veranda presenting a unique view from the tree canopy.
Guests will come together underneath the Fig Tree, from which the camp is named, to savour the serenity of the lagoon as well as delicious food and wine. After supper guests will sit around a campfire, feet in the sand, gazing at the stars and listening to the sounds of the African Bush.
The camp will be powered by solar energy providing guests with green electricity 24 hours a day.
