Boschendal wine farm lies between the Simonsberg and Drankenstein mountains, an hour’s drive from Cape Town. The Boschendal Estate offers guests a chance to immerse themselves in the many layers of one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms.

Boschendal offers a variety of cottages ideal for couples, families and groups. The beautifully restored and furnished en suite farm cottages, each has is own kitchen, veranda and with either shared or its own swimming pool.

Located on the farm is a Tree house - children’s play area, a wine tasting room and a larger cellar door tasting centre. Dining can be done at either the Werf Restaurant, the Deli or the Rhone Homestead.

Farm activities offered include walks in the vineyards, mountain biking routes and wine tasting (some at an additional cost)

The cottages are about 2 km from the main werf. A short drive or cycle through the pastures and fruit orchards brings guests to these stylishly converted labourers’ houses.

The feeling of the cottages is one of stylish simplicity with a rural yet contemporary character. The atmosphere is carefree and relaxed making the cottages ideal for families or groups of friends.

The Retreat is a collection of eighteen two-bedroom self-catering cottages situated in a far corner of the farm with exquisite mountain views.

This secluded venue has a carefree and relaxed atmosphere and is ideal for families or groups of friends. The cottages are about 3,5 km from the main werf, guests are advised to have their own transport. Bring your mountain bike or walking shoes to explore the farm paths, mountainside trails and single track.

If you are travelling with children take a look at our edu play centre - The Tree House, where free range kids learn all about farm life. The fully supervised daily programme is available for accommodation guests aged 5 - 14yrs.

The venue has a state of the art indoor screening room, dining room & lounge and a variety of meeting rooms making it an ideal space for conferences, team building and strategic executive breakaways. A large lawn provides the opportunity to add extra tented accommodation, ideal for outdoor events and festivals.

Our Cow Shed Cottage offers space for four guests with two
stunning bedrooms with comfortable furnishings, a beautiful
and spacious lounge area, and a secluded private patio
surrounded by nature and breathtaking mountain views.

This historic cottage, built by renowned architect, Sir Herbert Baker, has been redecorated to give guests a chance to experience a piece of South African history and walk in the footsteps of Cecil John Rhodes.

Set under the imposing outline of the Simonsberg mountain, the cottage has magnificent views over the Boschendal Estate and the valley. The cottage is about 2 km from the main Werf. A large verandah, outside dining under the oaks and an eco friendly swimming pool add to the relaxed feel of the property, which is a South African National Heritage Site.

Sleeps up to 6 people in the cottage and 4 people in the garden annex.
1 x 5bed 3bath cottage

Stunning six-bedroom villa at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountain with views of the entire Franschhoek Valley. This property is perfect for a luxurious, adventurous or relaxing family get-away. The villa has a fully equipped kitchen, two lounges and large terrace that wraps around the whole property. Set up to entertain with outside bar area, braai, pizza oven and large swimming pool.
