Lilayi is set on a 600 hectare game farm just south of Lusaka. The habitat is original Miombo or Mungu woodland with open areas reverting to Acacia or Bauhenia. This is home to many varieties of antelope from the ubiquitous Impala to tsetsebe, roan, hartebeest and waterbuck, as well as giraffe, zebra and warthog amongst other animals.
Lilayi offers 10 spacious deluxe chalets and 2 family chalets. All chalets are exquisitely furnished with luxurious en-suite bathrooms and an open-plan bedroom with a lounge opening out to a wooden deck. The family unit consists of 2 double en-suite rooms with a lounge area.
The main restaurant and bar/lounge area opens onto a wrap-around covered deck overlooking the pool area. The restaurant offers a tantalizing marriage between African fusion and contemporary cuisine, with wine served from the in-house wine cellar.
Visitors to Lilayi also have the opportunity to visit the Elephant Orphanage Project located by the main entrance. Other activities on offer include game drives, horse safaris, walking safaris and birding within the reserve.
A unique experience reserved exclusively for Lilayi Lodge in-house guests is the Behind The Scenes tour of the Lilayi Elephant Nursery. Guests are guided through the camp where they are given an intimate explanation of the Elephant Orphanage Project, followed by a walk in the bush with the elephants. The cost of this experience is USD$100 per person. This is a donation and goes 100% towards the elephants and conservation in Zambia.
Maximum of 4 people per walk and must be booked well in advance.
