Maxa Lodge is an intimate safari camp nestled in the Northeastern reaches of Botswana's Okavango Delta, overlooking the permanent Maxa Lagoon. Situated where the clear headwaters of the Okavango meet the meandering channels of the Selinda Spillway, Maxa is surrounded by a network of permanent and seasonal waterways, floodplains, and lagoons.
The camp features five tented rooms elevated on decks, including a family tent. Each tent is thoughtfully designed with both indoor and open-air outdoor en-suite bathrooms. The family tent comprises two bedrooms with a shared en-suite bathroom. The rooms have private decks and hideaways.
The lounge, library and dining areas are set under light canvas roofs, partially enclosed by traditional clay walls, creating a cozy yet open atmosphere. A central courtyard, with white delta sand underfoot, features picnic-style tables where guests can enjoy meals shaded from the midday sun or under the starlit sky. A unique feature of the main area is a termite mound that originally helped form the island, now serving as a focal point near the camp's wood-fired oven, which produces freshly baked bread and other delightful meals. Maxa boasts a natural swimming pool. For relaxation, a sala with a cushioned daybed and an elevated deck with a suspended cargo net hammock offer tranquil spots to take in the beautiful lagoon views.
