Daka Expeditions, an authentic safari retreat nestled in a 4,000-hectare private concession in the remote northwest of Hwange National Park. Positioned along the legendary Old Hunter’s Road, once traversed by early explorers and adventurers, this camp offers sweeping westerly views across open plains and the perennial Deka seeps. Wildlife is abundant here, drawn to the year-round water source.
Designed in the spirit of early expedition camps, Daka Expeditions is an exclusive use only camp, which features just three classic canvas tents, each thoughtfully appointed to deliver comfort without compromising the raw feel of the bush. Tents include twin beds (convertible to king), solar and rechargeable lighting, and en-suite facilities with a uniquely styled canvas shower and flushing toilet. Hot or cool water is manually prepared by attentive camp staff, reflecting a charming simplicity. Canvas basins, mosquito netting, and natural amenities add to the camp’s rustic luxury. It’s a setup that speaks to those who yearn for authenticity, privacy, and a personal connection with the African wild.
The communal spaces at Daka Expeditions continue the vintage safari theme, with a tented lounge and dining area styled in textures and tones that evoke classic bush adventure. Guests gather at the open-air bar and fire pit for sundowners with a view or immerse themselves in the camp’s curated safari library. With a dedicated professional guide and a private game vehicle on hand, the experience is as personal as it is profound. Our guest tents are Meru style and face out towards the border line of Zimbabwe and Botswana - views that take your breath away! The owners are bringing the traditional Hemingway style of safari camp to Hwange National Park!
Each tent has an outside bathroom area, with a traditional style bucket shower, vanity and flushable toilets. Look up and take in the night sky and stars!
There is a his and hers wardrobe with ample hanging and shelf space. In the front feel free to sit back and relax in the early mornings taking in the sunrise before you head out on your morning activity!
