Shakawe River lodge is located on the panhandle of the Okavango Delta, near Shakawe village (about 23 km from the Namibian border). The lodge offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere along the Okavango River in an area rich in birdlife, with excellent photographic and fishing opportunities.

Shakawe River Lodge offers 10 chalets as well as dome tents on decks with shared bathrooms and a serviced campsite. The chalets are beautifully appointed with en-suite bathrooms and set amongst riverine trees in close proximity to the main lodge. The honeymoon chalet features an outdoor shower and extended private deck. The main lodge is situated on a raised riverbed overlooking the Okavango River, with a spacious dining, lounge and bar area with a deck extending out to the swimming pool.

Activities focus on fishing with several boats for hire and a local guide/driver. Birdlife is excellent and many hours can be spent walking on the property, observing the many species found in this region of the Okavango. In addition Shakawe River lodge offer day trips to Mohembo Game Reserve and the nearby Tsodilo Hills, a World Heritage Site with one of the most historically significant rock art sites numbering over 4000 bushman paintings. Long associated with spirituality, Tsodilo is a place of special significance to the Basarwa (Bushman) people and archaeological studies estimate that humans have occupied this area for many thousands of years. Mohembo Game Reserve is host to birds and wildlife and situated across the border in the Caprivi region, Namibia.
