Mvuu Lodge is located 18km from the Lower Zambezi National Park, in the Chiawa Game Management Area and right opposite Mana Pools. The lodge is set upon the banks of the Zambezi River and often frequented by hippos and elephants.
Accommodation at Mvuu is offered at a variety of levels to suit different styles of travel and preferences. The safari tents, each with en-suite facilities are built on raised wooden decks overlooking the river. The self-catering tents, each with en suite facilities, are also built on raised wooden decks overlooking the river in an unspoilt natural setting. Each tent has a private barbeque area and is equipped with the necessary linen, cutlery and crockery. Mvuu campsites are situated in close proximity to the Lodge and are nestled in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees. All the campsites have private facilities with a hot shower, flush toilet and barbeque area.
The central lodge area hosts a restaurant and bar area overlooking the Zambezi River and caters not only for the safari tents but also offers their set menu meals to the self-catering tents and campsite (advance booking required). There is a swimming pool, curio shop and there is cell phone access from the lodge making internet connection possible.
The lodge offers a number of different activities including canoeing on the Zambezi River, boating and fishing trips and day trips by boat/road to Lower Zambezi National Park are also possible. (all at an additional cost)
Airport Transfer Time: 30 minutes from Royal Airstrip
Self drives are welcome and Mvuu Lodge is situated approximately 4.5 hours from Lusaka via Chirundu – boat transfers from Gwabi are possible (1 hour 15 minutes).

Mvuu Lodge
The legend of the Zambezi river boldly states that ‘whoever drinks of its water, will one day return to do so again’.
Overlooking the Zambezi River and tucked away from the rest of the camp to offer a little more privacy, Shaka is our deluxe flagship tent. This elegant abode is furnished in teak and boasts a king-sized bed, two single beds and a lounge open area making it the ideal family unit or a secluded couple's retreat. The beautiful en-suite bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower, and hot water is available 24 hours a day.
All of our tents are fully equipped with fresh bedding, mosquito nets, insect repellants, solar fans, LED lighting, hurricane lamps, towels, and coffee and tea making facilities.
The luxury two-sleeper Bemba tents are built on a raised wooden deck to provide guests with optimum views of the river and wildlife, all from the comfort of the private patio. Tents are stylishly decorated in a classic safari style and are furnished with either two single beds, or one double bed. In addition, space can be made to accommodate two children on mattresses. The spacious en-suite bathrooms have 24 hour hot water to ensure you don’t have to 'rough it' to really experience Africa.

Tonga offer the same style and comfort as our Bemba tents, but with the addition of self catering facilities. Each unit is equipped with all the necessary cutlery and crockery, and has a private braai area and gas cooker.
Currently we have one family unit that sleeps four people in one room. The other two units sleep two people in either single or double beds.

Mvuu Lodge has seven camping sites: Monkey, Mvuu, Elly, Leopard, Warthog, Croc and Lion. Each site has its own ablution facilities comprising of a hot shower, flush toilet and wash basin.
The campsites are situated in close proximity to the Lodge and are nestled in thick bush under a canopy of indigenous trees which provide a cool haven from the African Sun. Monkey is a grass camping site that can accommodate about five tents, while Mvuu and Elly are situated on the rivers edge, and can host three and four tents respectively. Leopard also caters for four tents.
The other three sites are bush camps located at the back of the lodge and can take three or four tents on each.
