Situated within a private game reserve along the northern edge of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, overlooking a waterhole, Dinaka Safari Lodge welcomes visitors to experience the remarkable bio-diversity and extraordinary, daunting beauty of this “living” desert region.
Seven safari tents on raised wooden platforms accommodate guests in simple yet gracious elegance. All feature either double or twin beds and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers. Being a child-friendly lodge, the family tent consists of two bedrooms sharing an en-suite bathroom. The main lodge areas comprising seating and dining areas, bar and swimming pool, are also perched on raised platforms ensuring superb views of the waterhole.
The extreme seasonal changes that are a trademark of the Kalahari Desert afford guests an array of changing vistas throughout each year. Winter presents more typical, arid scenery whilst the rainy season (usually from November to March) during the summer months, transforms the dry domain into green, lush landscapes. This unique environment is home to an amazingly diverse number of large mammals, including rhino, large predators and numerous antelope species including the striking gemsbok (oryx). The focus of activities at Dinaka is therefore on morning and afternoon/evening game drives and bush walks. No more than four guests are seated in the “all window seat” game drive vehicles. Birding at Dinaka is extremely bountiful year round with numbers of species soaring during the summer months, when many seasonal migrants return from afar.
Furthermore, the waterholes in the reserve are dotted with several hides and bunkers, enhancing game and bird viewing opportunities as well as presenting excellent photographic options. A sleep out deck offers guests a chance to immerse themselves in an unforgettable kinship with nature under the breathtaking southern skies (weather permitting).

Guests are accommodated in seven spacious twin and double-bedded thatched safari tents, each en-suite bathroom has both a large walk in shower and outdoor shower with a view. Dinaka’s tents are well spaced and raised up on wooden decks giving the perfect vantage point over a permanent water hole. Connected by wooden walkways all areas of camp are accessible by wheelchair.
The annual rains transform the arid desert landscape into a lush profusion of Kalahari vegetation, offering guests a unique insight into the lesser known desert experience. The Sleep Out Deck offers guests a panoramic view and the opportunity to spend the night under the magnificent African night sky.
