Activities: birding and fishing safari by motor boat
Lawdons Lodge is located on the pan handle of the Okavango Delta, near Shakawe village (about 23 km from the Namibian border). Lawdons Lodge offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere along the Okavango River: an area rich in birdlife as well as excellent fishing grounds and scenic beauty with superb opportunities for photography.
This new luxury lodge is run by Jan and Eileen Drotsky and its name Lawdons comes from the combined three letters of the names of their sons: Lawrence and Donavan. The lodge therefore offers a personalised service and a wide range of knowledge of the area and, most importantly, of birding. Accommodation consists of ten wooden deluxe chalets built on stilts to allow guests a scenic view of the gardens and river. Each chalet is equipped with two three quarter beds, air conditioning and a television. The main lodge houses a restaurant, reception and there is also a swimming pool so that you can cool off in the hotter months.
The camp specialises in birding and fishing safaris. Bird watching is outstanding in the region amongst the tall, shady, riverine forests and many resident and migratory birds can be seen along the river. Fishing trips are offered by motorboat with expert guides, species available include: barbel (catfish), bream and the famous tiger fish.
Lawdons Lodge is a place to relax in comfort while surrounded by the sounds of the resident Hippos, birds and the natural peacefulness of the Okavango Delta.
