Set in the middle of the Zambezi River, Tsika Island offers guests an authentic bush camp experience with the option of a canoe safari along the Zambezi to Chongwe River Camp.
The island houses three rustic chalets, each with en-suite bathrooms featuring hot and cold running water. The dining space is built to the same open design and comfortable lounge chairs around a camp fire, completes this true bush experience.
Tsika Island is a community partnership project and combines a canoeing safari with an authentic cultural experience, offering visits to the Mugurumeno Basic School and the local village on the nearby mainland as activities. Boat cruises and fishing are also on offer.
The camp is open between April and mid –November.
Transfer time: 15 minutes from Royal Airstrip, then 1 hour by boat from Chongwe

The camp features just 3 rustic chalets allowing a maximum of 7 guests.
With no predators on the island, the buildings feature open ferro structures under village thatch to complement the island bush experience, with coco poles securing the windows.
Each spacious room can comfortably accommodate either double or twin occupancy. Our third chalet, slightly larger, can also accommodate a third single bed for triple occupancy. All beds are set under full walk in mosquito nets.
The en-suite bathrooms benefit from hot and cold running water. Clever design allows for stunning views over the river whilst remaining fully private.
In keeping with the rustic nature of the accommodation and island experience, there is no noisy generator to interrupt the sounds of the river or the islands wild inhabitants. Solar panels provide lighting in the bedrooms and bathrooms with paraffin lamps providing additional, atmospheric lighting. Guests should note that as such there are no charging facilities so please ensure those camera batteries are fully charged before arrival!
