Somalisa Acacia Camp is a charming small exclusive camp situated alongside the famous Somalisa Camp, known as the home of the elephants, in a private concession in the heart of Hwange National Park.

Meant for private safaris, the camp caters for small family groups and those requiring a private experience shared with a maximum of 8 people in simplistic tents that are on slightly raised decks, under the canopy of a grove of acacias on the western side of Somalisa. Each tent has en-suite bathroom facility including flush toilet and running bucket shower. The camp has its own dining and lounge area with a small splash pool enabling one to cool off and share with elephants during the heat of the day. The camp enjoys its own private views of a small water hole that is frequented by large herds of big game which include buffalo, kudu, zebra, giraffe, lion and many more.

Activities on offer are game drives and walking excursions, carried out by the camp’s professional guides. Most of the activities are in the Somalisa private concession but with easy access to other parts of the park. A private guide and tour leader facility is available on special request.

Transfer Time: From Hwange Main Camp by road is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Each luxury tent includes gauze sliding doors, a glass wood-burner fireplace for the cold winter nights, and in-room fans for the hot summer days, as well as en suite bathroom facilities including flush toilets, an indoor and outdoor shower, as well as a copper slipper-style bathtub.

Somalisa Acacia has recently under gone a complete rebuild and now comprises of 2 Luxury Family Units with inter-leading walkways between the parents and children’s rooms which are both en-suite.

All the simple but luxurious tents are on slightly raised decks, under the dappled canopy of a grove of Acacias on the western side of Somalisa.

Somalisa Acacia has two luxury tented suites and two luxury tented family suites that feature inter-connecting bedrooms. From the comfort of your own private viewing deck, watch as zebra, giraffe, and other wildlife gracefully saunter into view. All luxury tented suites include a wood-burning fireplace, a copper slipper-style bath, a lavish king-size bed, and an indoor and outdoor shower. Our family luxury tented suites are connected to the main area by a wooden boardwalk. Inside each suite, you'll find two interconnected rooms; the children’s room, slightly cozier, features a privacy flap that can be drawn down for added seclusion between the two rooms. There are cots available for young children.
