Camp Sossus is built in a naturally-formed amphitheatre of a south-facing granite outcrop within striking distance of Sossusvlei, and is ideally positioned to avoid the harsh desert sun. The 8 luxury tents on offer are protected from the stormy east winds by natural stone walls and shaded by roofs built from almost 500 recycled oil drums.

Each accommodation is equipped with furniture built in part from recycled metals, Oregon pine floor boards and wooden pallets. As a result of this design, the camp is virtually invisible from any distance and carries the lowest environmental footprint of any camp in Namibia, being 100% solar powered.

The large west-facing windows and south-facing doors allow natural cooling by the predominant afternoon south westerly wind, and each tent offers important comforts such as an en-suite flush toilet and hot water bucket shower. They also have comfortable twin beds, a shaded day-bed and a star bed.

Additional on-site facilities and services include desert pools, communal electrical charging facilities, a waterhole for wildlife viewing, a spacious communal lounge, dining room, campfire circle and deck, as well as fully inclusive meals, local drinks, artisan coffee, and most activities.
