Big Cave Camp reposes atop an enormous granite whaleback commanding inspirational views across the famous Matobo National Park. Sophisticated African architecture incorporates colossal boulders into a luxuriously appointed thatched lodge positioned amidst ancient Khoisan rock art.
The seven thatched A-frame cottages, each with en-suite bathroom and private balcony, resonate African creative flair. Included is a honeymoon suite as well as family rooms for those with small children. Retire at a day's end to the natural rock-pool and sundeck, the Leopard`s Lair lounge and bar, a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks or the popular lodge library.
History, culture, flora and fauna abound in the Matobo Hills. Guests choose from a wide variety of activities, accompanied by a qualified guide: bird watching, the Matobo is home to the rare Black Eagle and elusive Cape Eagle Owl, cultural excursions, this area boasts the highest concentrations of rock art anywhere in the world, game viewing & Rhino tracking. Game viewing is done both on the private property as well as into the Whovi Game Park where drives into the Whovi Park with a professional guide to view not only rhino, but also leopard, and a selection of plains game can be arranged. Night drives on the Big Cave wilderness area can be enjoyed to view the nocturnal creatures of the Matobo Hills.

Both Honeymoon suites are 'A' framed granite under-thatch room that is nestled within the granite rocks on top of a Kopje (Hill) overlooking the Big Cave Camp Valley and the majestic Matopos National Park. 100% Egyptian cotton linen and pillow cases to add to your comfort. Overhead fan to cool in the summer and Aranda Faux minx blanket to keep you warm and snug up in the winter months. En-suite bathroom, flush toilet, shower and double basins with hot running water.
