Wasa Lodge is situated in the eastern side of the Kasanka National Park just 12km from the tar road and park entrance. Kasanka National Park is the only park in Zambia that is privately operated and managed.
Situated in Kasanka National Park, Wasa Lodge lies on Wasa Lake.
Wasa Lodge offers accommodation in 3 deluxe chalets (rondavels) with en-suite bathrooms and a private veranda. There are an additional 6 simply furnished chalets with shared ablution facilities. The main lodge area also carries on the traditional circular rondavel theme under thatch and houses a bar, restaurant and lounge with open views onto a deck across to the Wasa Lake.
The lodge offers a number of activities: game drives and night drives in Kasanka National Park, guided walks and optional walking trails as well as the annual bat migration in November and December. It is possible to arrange a walking trail with mobile camps set up on route which is recommended to be booked in advance.
Kasanka National Park is one of the most picturesque parks in Zambia and contains a rich diversity of animal, bird and plant life. Despite its size of only 390km² it hosts a variety of habitats from miombo woodlands to open dambo grasslands and a network of rivers and lakes. Several rare species are abundant in the park, including sitatunga, wattled crane, Ross’s Lourie and Blue Monkeys. In addition, Kasanka is also host to a unique and spectacular congregation of several million Straw-Coloured Fruitbats every November and December. There are 3 larger chalets all of which have double and single beds in the room, a verandah overlooking Lake Wasa, a simple shower, basin and flush toilet in an en-suite bathroom.
