Kasanka National Park is amongst the smallest national parks in Zambia with very few visitors. It is not a place for you if you are looking for a classic safari destination to tick of the Big 5.
There are only 2 permanent lodges in Kasanka National park and this is what makes it so special , the chance to experience this pristine wilderness with hardly any other human being in sight.
You cannot expect to see huge herds around every corner but Kasanka is home to the largest mammal migration in the world, the Bat migration. Bat season is between late October and December.
It is a truly phenomenal nature spectacle when millions of straw coloured fruit bats blanket the skies at each dusk and dawn. The Kasanka bat migration can easily rival the Masai Mara wildebeest migration of the Serengeti and will blow you away
If you have seen the big game and you are looking for a wildlife experience of a different kind that will leave you breathless, then Kasanka during the migration is the answer.
