Only twenty steps from the white sands of Matemwe Beach in its own walled garden is one of Zanzibar’s most exclusive houses, Matemwe Beach House. This traditional three-room residence is the perfect escape for families or groups looking for a private slice of Zanzibar’s beautiful coastline.
The warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean are on your doorstep, which means snorkelling, kayaking, boat trips and diving excursions are easy to arrange – although you may find lazy days relaxing in the private swimming pool and soaking up the tranquil surroundings equally appealing. A team of staff – including a private chef and butler – is dedicated to looking after your every need, so you have the freedom to relax completely.
The Beach House at Matemwe is a three bedroom house offering extraordinary views – just metres from beach. The house features a pool and loungers with complete privacy for sunbathing and a cooling dip. There are also some private loungers on the beach in front of the house. The master bedroom on the ground floor offers a king-sized bed with a framed mosquito net and en suite bathroom with shower. The second bedroom, also on the ground floor, offers a king-sized bed and shares a bathroom with guests staying in the Mezzanine. Shampoo, soap, conditioner, shower and body lotion, slippers and bathrobes are provided for all guests. Also at the Beach House is an upstairs room with 2 further single beds suitable for children. This floor shares the second bathroom. All beds have a mosquito net to cover them entirely. The dining room/common areas are open-planned, with doors leading out to a decked verandah and pool.
