Evolve Back Gham Dhao Lodge is located in the central Kalahari region of Botswana, on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The camp overlooks a permanent waterhole offering game viewing from the main lodge. The atmosphere of the lodge is classically African, relaxed and informal.
The lodge accommodates guests in two main accommodation types – the original Kalahari Classic Tents, including one adjoined Family Tent, and the new Sky Luxe Tents.
The Kalahari Classic Tents are comfortably furnished tented accommodation on raised decks sheltered by a unique slatted canopy inspired by traditional dwellings. Each tent has a comfortable sleeping area, ensuite bathroom with indoor/outdoor shower and tea/coffee making facilities. The Kalahari Classic Family tent is two of the Classic tents sharing a joint deck – note that the connection is not enclosed.
The new Sky-Luxe tented rooms offer a luxury upgrade. Each Sky Lux room is under cooling thatch with a spacious sleeping and lounge area facing onto a private deck that leads to a private sky bed under the stars. Each room has an indoor bathroom with a classic clawfoot bathtub and bush view, as well as a secluded open air shower.
The main lodge consists of a lounge, dining room worth communal dining and bar area decorated in wood and thatch. A swimming pool, sun deck, well-appointed bar and an expansive boma eating area are among the facilities available.
Activities at Haina include game drives and night drives with experienced and knowledgeable guides. A highlight is the activity with San Bushmen - a cultural experience where guests are able to interact through a translator guide and learn about their culture and traditions.
This area of the Kalahari is semi desert sandveld dotted with acacia woodland and scrub. Wildlife inhabiting this area includes some desert species of antelope such as springbok and gemsbok as well as other desert dwelling creatures such as jackals, brown hyena, bat eared fox and caracal. You may be lucky enough to find a black-maned Kalahari lion. It is an area that does not feature large congregations of animals, but is extraordinarily beautiful offering vast open plains and clear night skies – not often found in today’s developed world.
