This small, authentic safari bush camp lies under a grove of Mahogany trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. The camp is a 4 hour drive south of Kafunta River Lodge in a remote game-rich area of the southern section of the South Luangwa National Park..
Island Bush Camp has 5 bush chalets tastefully decorated in a simple bush chic style, open to the front with stunning views over the river and allowing the sounds of the bush to drift through. Each chalet is built out of natural materials and sits on wooden platform high off the ground. Cosy beds turned down each night behind tented mosquito nets. Each chalet has an en-suite bathroom, open to the sky, with stylish and practical canvas bucket showers, filled twice a day with steamy water, a wooden wash stand with running water and flush toilets.
In this complete solitude far away from other operators the camp offers exclusive walking safaris. The walking safaris are a great opportunity to be at one with nature. Qualified and highly experienced safari guides and armed National Park rangers will escort you safely into the true and unspoilt African bush. The Luangwa Valley is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to walk amongst wildlife, which allows guests to fully immerse themselves in African impressions, smells and sounds. During the walking safaris the guides provide the guests with detailed explanations of spoors, vegetation and the ecology in general - an unmatched wildlife experience. A vehicle is at times used to access walking areas or to return to camp after dark to discover the nocturnal wildlife in the area.
The Bushcamp is seasonal and is open from 20 May to the 1 November of each year.

Each of the five chalets is built on stilt, with open sides to have an uninterrupted view of the Luangwa River. The bedroom extends to a viewing deck. The bathroom is equipped with a bucket shower, a sink with running water and a flushing toilet.
No electricity or noisy generator, Island Bush Camp is all about the authenticity of a stay in the remote wilderness.
