Gaborone is a modern city, which lies in the flat valley between Kgale and Oodi Hills in the southeastern corner of Botswana. As the capital city of Botswana, it is the commercial and administrative center of the country. Amongst the cities tourist attractions are: "The Old Mall", the first ever mall, the Civic Centre (house's a public library), The Pula Arch (landmark that commemorates the Independence of Botswana), The National Assembly, The statue of Sir Seretse Khama (the first president of Botswana), The National Sports Stadium, Kgale Hill (known as "the sleeping Giant, on the western edge of the city), The National Museum and Art Gallery, The Gaborone Game Reserve, Mokolodi Game Reserve (only 10 minutes drive from the city and has species of wildlife including white rhino, cheetah, mountain reedbucks, giraffe, zebra, leopards, elephants, impala to name a few and accommodation facilities), Gaborone Dam (that has a recreational area with restaurants), Craft Centre's and last but not least: The Three Dikgosi Monument (a landmark featuring the statues of the three chiefs who travelled to Great Britain to ask for protection or immunity against all the colonization turmoil and civil wars that were transpiring during that era).

Whilst visiting, it is possible in Gaborone to do the No. 1 Tour, which is based on Alexandra McCall Smith's bestselling book "The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency". This tour takes visitors though the main character's (Mma Ramotswe) birthplace - Mochudi, where you will visit the kgotla (tribal house of chiefs), the famous Phuthadikobo Museum as well as visiting the area where her residential home in Gaborone used to be. Visitors are also taken to Kgale View, where the actual agency used to be situated.
