Notten’s Bush Camp is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which means “the land of the rising sun” in the locally spoken language, Shangaan. Notten’s is an exclusive and private safari lodge personally run by the Notten family.
Each of the 9 private suites are elegantly styled, spacious and cooled by ceiling fans, featuring an open plan en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. A magical atmosphere is created with the deliberate absence of electric lighting; the ambient candlelight and lanterns capturing an enchanting spirit of romance. With splendid panoramic views, this private game lodge is the perfect place for peace and relaxation while watching animals meander past.
The main lodge is an inviting open-plan thatched house with an open lounge on a large deck overlooking the camp waterhole and through to vast open plain. The 20m lap pool provides not only welcome relief in the heat of the day but also a little exercise during your stay. The nature spa offers indoor and outdoor treatment areas and focus on massage treatments, refreshing and rejuvenating between game drives. Due to the lack of electricity in the suites, the main area is where you charge your cameras, and have access to a main telephone line.
The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is a remarkable natural sanctuary known for its exceptionally high concentration of animal and bird life. Safaris are led by experienced rangers in open-top land rovers, offering an adventurous discovery of the region’s prolific wildlife, including Big 5 game viewing. Unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guest the opportunity of discovering the hidden treasures of the region. This can be followed by lazy hours spent in the sparkling pool or having a massage at the nature spa.

Directions to Notten's Bush Camp
- Take the N4 straight past Witbank and Belfast all the way to Nelspruit
- When in Nelspruit, take the R37 exit then turn right
- Take the R37 pass the traffic circles and then turn left onto the R40
- Take the R40 straight past White River and then turn left into Theo Kleynhans Street
- Drive straight along the road as it merges into the R538
- At the traffic circle take the third exit, continuing along the R538
- Stick to the R538 until it changes into the R40 into Hazyview
- Turn right onto the R536, pass the traffic circle and continue along the R536
- Turn left into Newington Gate Road and after about 2.6 km turn right
- After about 10.7 km turn left and after 1.2 km the destination will be on the right
- Approach the N3 from Howick Road
- Drive through Mooi River toward Ladysmith
- Turn off at the 230 exit and turn right onto the N11
- Follow the N11 through Ladysmith, pass Newcastle and into Ermelo
- Turn right into Fourie Street/N17 and then turn off onto the R36
- Follow the R36 through Carolina and merge onto the N4
- Follow the N4 into Nelspruit and turn right onto the R37
- Turn left into Madiba Drive/R40
- Follow the R40 into Hazyview
- Turn right onto the R536
- Turn left into Newington Gate Road and then take the first turn to the right
- After about 10.7 km turn left and another left after 1.2 km, destination will be on the right
Directions from Notten's Bush Camp
- Exit the camp taking the road straight down and then taking the first right
- Drive down till the end of the road and then turn right
- Turn left into Newington Gate Road and then turn right onto the R536
- Take the R536 straight through to Hazyview and turn left onto the R40
- Take the R40 straight down as it changes into the R538 into White River
- Turn right into Chief Mgiyeni Drive/R40, taking it all the way as it changes into Provincial P9/2 Road
- Take the R40 all the way to Nelspruit and turn right onto the R37
- On the R37 pass the traffic circle and then take an exit onto the N4
- Exit the camp taking the road straight down and then taking the first right
- Drive down till the end of the road and then turn right
- Turn left into Newington Gate Road and then turn right onto the R536
- Follow the R536 into Hazyview, then turn left onto the R40
- Follow the R40 through White River and into Nelspruit
- Turn right onto the R37 then turn left onto the N4
- Follow the N4 all the way into Machadodorp
- Turn left into Quitzow Street/R36
- Follow the R36 through Carolina until the end then merge onto the N17 into Ermelo
- Turn left into Kerk Street/ N11
- Follow the N11 all the way down through Newcastle and into Ladysmith
- Turn left onto the N3
- Take the N3 all the way down, turn off into Howick Road into Pietermaritzburg
